History of the Toyota Corolla

Toyota introduced the Corolla to North American drivers in 1968, making a strong first impression with its approachable price, quality build, and reliable performance. Originally offered as a station wagon or sedan, the Corolla was designed to suit the needs of drivers at the time. As these needs changed, a hatchback variation was introduced to replace the station wagon, and Toyota paid careful attention to the automotive market's changes and trajectory.

When Toyota saw that drivers wanted larger vehicles, they redesigned the Corolla to sport a bigger body for the 1970s. The Corolla was updated again in the 1980s, and the decade saw the car rise in popularity to become one of the most highly-demanded vehicles around the world. Toyota has kept the vehicle current with driver needs as the market continues to evolve, and the Corolla entered a new generation in 2020, now offering new technology and enhanced comfort.
